Here is a Q&A with Nick Jonas from the NY Times website :)

You don’t become a pop, television and Broadway star by the age of 19 without a healthy sense of competition. So when it came to his Oscar ballot, Nick Jonas went with what he thinks will win, not necessarily what he wants.

“I’m quite a competitive person,” he confirmed on the phone from his Manhattan apartment. One-third of the Jonas Brothers pop act, he started out in theater and moved on to music and Disney television series work with his family. Now he’s returned to his roots, starring on Broadway in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

On the ballot he filled out for us, he chose “The Artist.” A lot. “Here’s the deal,” he explained. “I picked what I think is going to win because I wanted to be as close to right as I could be.”

But his love for Woody Allen left him feeling conflicted. “In these last two years I’ve sort of fallen more in love with his work,” he said. “Now, living here in New York, I feel like I’m in a Woody Allen movie all the time. You know, the sense that you’re living ‘Annie Hall’ is the overall vibe I get.”

He spoke more about his choices — for the Oscar and for the stage. Here are excerpts from the conversation.

Q.Why do you think that “The Artist” will win?
A.I thought it was, like, one of the best. People love the classics and it’s got that sense. They did an incredible job of making it feel that way.

Q.Have you seen a lot of classic films?
A.I’ve seen enough to know that “The Artist” was done well within that vein. I’m not an old film buff by any means, but I’ve seen a few from time to time and I’ve enjoyed all of them.

Q.Did you grow up watching a lot of movies?
A.I did. My dad is a big movie fan and that would be our trip on a Saturday, to go see a movie. And we had quite a big selection at our house. I’ve always loved movies and its kind of my way of relaxing.

Q.What was your favorite movie when you were young?
A.You mean when I was much younger? Like when I was a child?

Q.Yes.
A.“Peter Pan.” No matter which one it was. The animated or the Broadway version they put on VHS, which I loved.

Q.The version with Mary Martin?
A.Yes.

Q.Do you think Mary Martin has influenced your work onstage?
A.In certain degrees, I guess. They are very different roles. But I’m sure it affected me in some way.

Q.Did you pick Viola Davis for her performance or because you liked the film?
A.I loved “The Help.” I saw it the first week it came out and thought she was amazing in it. Actually, the minute I saw this movie, I thought it should be a musical or a play. This movie touches on a lot of real issues and really pulls at your heart. And she did an amazing job within that.

Q.Anybody in particular you would cast in the musical adaptation?
A.I haven’t really thought that far in advance yet, but the material is just brilliant so it would be quite easy to get something great together. It might just be a really excellent play.

Q.For cinematography, you chose “The Artist”; art direction, “The Artist”; costume design, “The Artist.” You really think it will win big.
A.I think it’s going to take it. I would say maybe I’d pick “Midnight in Paris” for art direction instead. And as far as costume design, I haven’t seen “Hugo” or “Anonymous” but the look of “The Artist” was brilliant.
And for directing, I chose “Midnight in Paris” because Woody Allen is my favorite. He’s awesome.

Q.Have you seen a lot of his films?
A.You know, there would be a Woody Allen film on the tour bus every now and again. There’s always a Woody Allen movie on.

Q.Has living in New York made you as neurotic as Woody Allen?
A.Sometimes I feel an element of that. I hate to say this again, but it would be a great musical. When I see a movie that hits me like that one did, where it sort of brings me a lot of joy, I always think, maybe there should be some music for that.

Q.Have you read a lot of Hemingway, Fitzgerald or the other writers featured in the film?
A.I didn’t really. I’m aware of who they are and I’m familiar with some of their works, but I didn’t really grow up with them. What’s great about the movie is that the acting from Owen Wilson — his excitement about it — gets you excited, regardless of your familiarity with the different people in the film.

Q.If you were taken back in time, whom would you want to bump into?
A.It would probably be different presidents. I would like to pick their brains and see what they did in their free time. I’m not necessarily obsessed with politics, but the presidency is just interesting to me. I think it would be great to meet Abraham Lincoln and have a conversation with him.

Q.What do you think Lincoln did for fun since he couldn’t go to the movies?
A.I always imagine him playing chess and smoking a pipe.
